Eat, drink and be merry

Mary-Ann’s Vinterhagen is an experience in itself. Opened in 2004 our restaurant takes you into a world where the Arctic meets the Orient, where the summer midnight sun floods in through the all glass enclosure and where the amazing northern lights mysteriously dance in the winter.
Don’t be surprised if you suddenly see a reindeer or arctic fox outside the window or if a covey of grouse flutter by during dinner.
Locally sourced and seasonal is how we like our menu. We are always happy to accommodate any allergies you might have, as well as to adapt to a vegetarian/vegan diet or kid-size portions. Let us know when you reserve a table and we will do our best to give you a gastronomical experience you will not forget.

Vinterhagen Restaurant

The greenest place in Svalbard; our winter garden is where you can relax in the warmth of our floor-heated conservatory full of natural plants and trees, whilst taking in the Arctic landscape surrounding Longyearbyen.

Give your taste buds a treat and enjoy this open and pleasant atmosphere in the most unique bar and restaurant on Svalbard. Our specialty is Arctic food from the North of Norway such as reindeer and seal, a must try during your trip in the far North.

Finish the night with some drinks in our intimate Peisen Bar featuring a full wall mural by famous graffiti artist Guido van Helten.

Shang-Po-Lar

Mary-Ann has collected items from when the mines were in use to fill this small museum-like room where we serve our buffet breakfast and lunch. Let your mind wander back to the old days of the miners in the tunnels and their pitch-black existence.

The name ´Shang-Po-Lar´originates from the mess hall of the mining settlement in Sverdrupsbyen in the 1930s. The breakfast room was created to reflect how mining once dominated life on Svalbard; a perfect place to find inspiration for your own voyage of discovery in the area.

Take time during breakfast to enjoy the fascinating objects and photographs around this room before taking your food to our Vinterhagen restaurant where you can enjoy a spectacular view of our town as you eat.

Breakfast is served every morning between 07:00 and 10:00

Lunch is served from Monday to Friday between 11:30 – 13:00
